Coupons - The Learning Curve
Getting the most out of
coupons involves a fairly steep learning curve. It may take as long as six months to nail down your particular coupon strategy.
The reasons for this initial level of difficulty are varied. Here are the major contributing factors: 1. The effective use of coupons involves knowing just when to use a particular coupon. It's not just a matter of cashing in the coupon immediately in order to get the saving. The idea is to tie them to sales. 2. Coupons have restrictions related to which specific products and sizes are eligible. 3. Near-term coupon expirations dates force shoppers to redeem them within a fairly short period of time (usually about four to five weeeks). Tip: The majority of coupons repeat, giving shoppers another chance to use them a month or so down the road. 4. More planning time is needed to take full advantage of the value of coupons. 5. Since no two families' needs are the same, it takes time to figure out which coupons are most valuable to you and to determine where to get these coupons and when and where to use them.
