When & Where to Buy
By now you should be getting a pretty good idea concerning
when you should buy an item and where you should buy it.
When to Buy Simply put, the best time to buy is when: - The item is on sale (unless it is never on sale) - The unit price is lower than your best unit price - You have a coupon or other incentive - You truly need the item - You have sufficient storage space Where to Buy - Buy items which never go on sale anywhere at your lowest-everyday-price store (Wal-Mart in my case). - Buy sale items wherever they are on sale, provided you are beating your best-everyday-price store and that the items won't spoil before you can use them. Tip: The sale price at your primary sale store won't always be less than Wal-Mart's everyday price, so check it to be sure. Some Exceptions There are bound to be exceptions to the guidelines provided above. For example, an item or brand you prefer may not be sold at your base store. Or you may be forced to buy an item at a higher price because your base store is out of stock. Tip: If you notice that a particular item is prone to out-of-stock situations; buy enough of the item to last a couple weeks. Next: Pricing Examples |
