Sale Cycles
Sale cycles refer to the periodic sales conducted by grocery stores.
While the word cycle infers a pattern, this is not exactly the case. It would be more accurate to say that grocery stores have a set of items which they put on sale throughout the year and you may be able to find a pattern or you may not. These sale items are called 'loss leaders' because stores are willing to take a loss on them in order to get the rest of your business. It's these sale items that will make up the bulk of your home inventory. Tip: Few, if any, of the hundreds of other items in any store will probably ever go on sale. Be sure to buy these items at your lowest-everyday-price (base) store. Be sure to take advantage of predictable sales that occur in conjunction with: - sporting events - seasonal trends, and - holidays and that include items such as meat, baked goods, candy, snacks, soda, alcohol, dessert mixes, and other items used to prepare holiday meals. Finally, make it a point to be aware of what is on sale at all of the stores in your area. NEXT: Sale Cycle Example |
