Common Misconceptions

naively assume that we know all about this weekly chore. But here are some misconceptions that you may have.
- Wal-Mart always has the lowest prices on everything There are a number of things that can affect an item’s price. Wal-Mart's "always low" prices for many items can be beaten on a regular basis. Later, I'll present some convincing examples to demonstrate this. - It's difficult to get the lowest price on everything In fact, it's not! Figuring out how to get the lowest price can actually make grocery shopping fun and rewarding, both financially and emotionally. That great feeling you get when you have saved money will happen much more often as you perfect your shopping strategy. - You can't really afford expensive brand name items Yes you can! Since most coupons and sales target brand-name groceries, you will be able to save money on the best brands. - Store grocery brands are usually low quality Not true! In fact, many store-brand items are very comparable to their brand-name equivalents. You just have to make sure they're a better deal than the brand-name product after all discounts have been applied (sale discounts, coupons, etc.). We have a group of over thirty Wal-Mart generics - called Great Value brand - that we buy on a regular basis. Wal-Mart also has a fine line of personal care products labeled with the Equate brand.
